For visitors to Singapore, the very name "Kranji" conjures up images of horses clashing on an open field. In reality, though, there are two distinct types of horse racing in Singapore, one conventional and the other non-conventional. The traditional equestrian format is what many Singaporeans fall back on, and the traditional form, known as the Raffles Singapore, draws a number of foreign visitors every year. If, however, you prefer non-traditional horse racing in Singapore, there are places where you can find them. It just takes a little looking around!

In terms of sheer entertainment, Kranji is probably the most famous horse race here. Formed in 1950, the race started out as a simple event and turned into a national sensation thanks to the fine horses and the hard work of the organizers. Today, the course has continued to attract high profile tourists for more than 30 years. If you want to check it out, head down to the Singapore River or Bishoornapan Road at lunchtime on Friday, and you will be greeted by a throng of people eager to catch a glimpse of the traditional dressage competitions.

While the real action occurs on Saturday, you can still join in the festivities by watching the various competitions live on television. Or, if you prefer to stay indoors and just enjoy the ambiance, Kranji horse racing can be enjoyed at various Singapore race courses. There are even racecourses located in the areas surrounding Singapore such as the Pulau Vodrang and the Orchard Road Race Course.

But for those who want the full effect, the real fun starts on Sunday when the racing begins. For the main competitions, which usually take place in the evening at the Marina Race Course, spectators can watch a horse battle it out with another horse for the final prize. Then for the afternoon leg, there is the women's tournament and the polo competition. For the sake of those who do not dare step out of their homes, there is also the Batu Ferringhi competition, although the night race is held only once a year at the prestigious Singapore Horse Racing Stadium.

The Marina race course is one of the most famous in Singapore, but it does not mean that other race tracks have no relevance. In fact, there is hardly any area in Singapore that has not been touched in some form by horse racing. In fact, you can view the latest super races like the Dubai Grand Prix, which takes place in an artificial turf at the Palms in Dubai. Of course, there are also the indoor karting facilities in Singapore, as well as the national indoor track, the National Motorcycle School.

For people who love watching horse racing, Singapore is a perfect destination. You can also enjoy your sports betting experience at Singapore Pools Horse Racing. The country is well connected nationally and internationally through air, rail and road. For the tourist, there are a wide variety of places to see, ranging from the museums and art galleries, to shopping arcades and restaurants. For the more serious horse lovers, there are a large number of stables and workshops, where they can buy equipment and learn about how to take care of their horses.
